Deputy Fired for Having Sex With Female Suspect
A sheriff’s deputy has been fired for having sex with an intoxicated woman while he was investigating her for an alleged assault, court records show.
The county Sheriff’s Department called the dismissal a personnel matter, and was unavailable for comment Friday. The district attorney’s office said that it had decided against charging Deputy Antonio Lee Smith with rape.
The deputy was fired July 24 after he was sent to a 37-year-old woman’s home on Dec. 26, 2001. The woman had been accused of assault, and Smith admitted that, at the home, he engaged in several sexual acts with the suspect.
