Rep. Virgil H. Goode Jr. (I-Va.) announced that he would accept the Republican nomination to run for reelection this year.

Goode made the announcement during a meeting of the 5th District Republican Committee in Richmond.

Tucker Watkins, chairman of the committee, said that the party would begin circulating petitions to get Goode the signatures required for a primary. Goode is unopposed in the June 11 primary and the November election.
