Students Join Bid for War Dog Memorial
There are memorials in Washington for many veterans, but not for at least one group of American fighters. Students at Upland High School are joining others seeking a National War Dog Memorial to honor the thousands of dogs that have served in the armed services. Supporter John Sciascia of the Vietnam Dog Handler Assn. said building a monument will cost $5 million to $7 million. Members of Upland High’s Pets ‘N Pots club have raised $80,000 so far.
