Bites and Books in La Canada
Penelope’s in La Canada Flintridge is a nice place to stop for coffee, a quick bite or something to read--it’s a bookshop and gallery as well as a restaurant. If you don’t have time to linger, Penelope’s will pack food to go. For a light lunch, try the vegetarian sandwich, filled with Brie, spinach leaves, sliced red onion and avocado. The choice of bread is up to you. The orange color of sun-dried tomato bread makes a nice contrast to the leafy green filling. Other options are Kalamata olive, multi-grain, sourdough, rye, French rolls and croissants. Sandwiches come with a choice of green salad, fruit or coleslaw made with red cabbage.
