What: L.A. Invitational indoor track and field meet.

Where: Sports Arena.

When: Saturday. The boys’ and girls’ shotput and discus will be held at USC, starting at 9 a.m. The rest of the high school events will be held at the Sports Arena, starting at 10:30 a.m. Open events will begin with the women’s pole vault at 4:40 p.m.

Fast Facts: Miler Bernard Lagat, pole vaulter Lawrence Johnson, high jumper Charles Austin and sprinter Jon Drummond top the list of men’s entries in the open meet. Sprinter Angela Williams and pole vaulters Mel Mueller and Mary Sauer headline the women’s entrants. The high school portion of the meet will include defending state champions Mike Landers of Merced Golden Valley in the boys’ pole vault, Allyson Felix of North Hills L.A. Baptist in the girls’ 50 meters, Chaunte Howard of Riverside North in the girls’ high jump and Rachel Varner of Bakersfield in the girls’ discus.
