Holland’s Jochem Uytdehaage set the first of the world records during these Games at the super-fast Utah Olympic Oval with his victory in the 5,000 meters. Since then, world records have fallen in two other men’s events and Olympic records have fallen in four. Today’s 10,000 meters is the last men’s event at the oval. Uytdehaage again is among the favorites. Teammates Gianni Romme, who won the event four years ago in Nagano, and Bob de Jong are others.
