If “It’s Like Getting Fleeced” (Feb. 20), on the death of the textile industry in the United States and the loss of jobs, doesn’t get the attention of the American public, nothing will. Textiles join the steel and toy industries that have fled the country in the wake of NAFTA and GATT [the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade]. And try to buy anything not made overseas, especially in China. Perhaps when there are more American citizens out of work than there are workers, Americans will get the picture. But will that be too late?
