National Parks’ Internet Site Back in Business

Share

Access to the National Park Service’s Internet site, www.nps.gov, which typically gets about 700,000 “hits” per day, was restored Feb. 12 after being blocked for more than two months. Access was restored by permission of a federal court that blocked it Dec. 5 as part of a case involving the Department of the Interior, which runs the park service. The case involves the department’s alleged mismanagement of a trust fund that processes royalties from Indian lands. The court cited concerns about data security when it ordered various Interior Department Internet sites shut down.
