Doctors to Examine Suspect in Slaying

A judge on Wednesday ordered Patrick Scarpaci, who has been charged with beating and strangling his mother, to be examined by court-appointed psychiatrists. The body of special education teacher Kathryn Scarpaci, 50, was found Dec. 14 inside the trunk of a car in her garage.
The case will resume Jan. 22, when doctors give their reports.
