A Social Alternative to Propranolol

Share

I was dismayed to read in the People’s Pharmacy (Dec. 17) about medication being used in the treatment of public-speaking phobia. Though I do not doubt that propranolol has proved effective for some people suffering from such phobia, I would like to point out that there is already a way to treat this problem without medication--Toastmasters.

Toastmasters is an international organization created to help people practice their public-speaking and communication skills through weekly meetings in a supportive environment.

As a member for the past five years, I can assure your readers that this organization can help them overcome public-speaking phobia, without the need for any medication whatsoever.
