Airline Pilot Suspended After Threat Accusation
A US Airways pilot accused of making “inappropriate” comments at an airport security checkpoint has been suspended pending an investigation, an airline official said.
Elwood Menear, 46, was released from jail one day after he was arrested for making what authorities called “inappropriate” comments at Philadelphia International Airport. Police accused him of making terroristic threats and disorderly conduct.
Officials refused to say what he said, but sources speaking on the condition of anonymity said Menear suggested he could take down the plane without a weapon.
The FBI and U.S. attorney’s office have not determined whether federal charges will be filed.
