Councilwoman Seeks to Revive Billboard Plan
From Times Staff Reports
Councilwoman Cindy Miscikowski said Friday that she will revive a proposal to generally ban all new billboards in the city.
She will also fight a plan to trade new freeway signs for the removal of thousands of existing billboards in neighborhoods.
Miscikowski said at a news conference earlier this week that she will launch a campaign to ban new billboards and propose a voter initiative to tax billboard firms to pay for enforcement of city regulations on existing signs.
“It would essentially kill the freeway deal,” she said.
