Black Studies Professor Opts to Leave Harvard

Prominent Harvard University African American studies professor Kwame Anthony Appiah has accepted a job at Princeton University, weeks after news of a strained relationship between Harvard’s black studies department and the school’s president.
Appiah, who has been at Harvard since 1991, said he was leaving because of his commute from New York City, not because he shared complaints that Harvard President Lawrence Summers was not committed to a strong Afro-American Studies Department.
