Palestinians Have an Alternative to Terror

Share

Utterly despicable is Hussein Ibish’s claim that “the attack on an Israeli bat mitzvah . . . appears to have been a direct response to the murder of [Raed] Karmi” (Commentary, Jan. 24). A direct response? People of goodwill recognize that Israel has targeted those Palestinian extremists who themselves have targeted unarmed civilians, murdering them with explosives packed with nails and metal scraps intended to inflict as much pain upon victims as possible. Acting in its own self-defense, Israel is targeting those responsible for past acts of terrorism and preventing future tragedies. This is hardly justification for randomly killing dozens of innocents.

Ibish would have us believe that there is no other choice for the Palestinians but to turn to terrorism. A good alternative would be for the Palestinians to cease all violence and accept Israel’s very generous offer of autonomy and shared control of Jerusalem.
