From Times wire reports

Atty. Gen. John Ashcroft urged members of the Organization of American States to tighten national borders and banking laws to disrupt terrorists’ actions.

He spoke to the OAS Inter-American Committee Against Terrorism, which is expected to approve a resolution encouraging member nations to change immigration and financial laws to crack down on terrorist networks.

Ashcroft also urged governments to tighten laws against computer crime and cyberterrorism.

“The menace of terrorism knows no borders,” Ashcroft said, noting that the Sept. 11 attacks killed people from 78 countries.
