Man, 19, Sentenced in Crash That Killed Four
A young man who killed four people last year when he ran a stop sign will spend 15 years to life in state prison.
Jamil Howard, 19, stole a late-model truck in Livermore on Feb. 20 and, with no previous driving experience, took a joy ride around town.
Later that afternoon, while avoiding authorities, he hit a vehicle and killed Bernice Martinez, 43, Ashley Martinez, 14, Christian Martinez, 16, and Desiree Guzman, 14.
Superior Court Judge William Murray sentenced Howard to 15 years to life for each victim’s death and ordered the terms be served concurrently. That means Howard will probably be incarcerated for 17 to 22 years.
