Family of Boy Killed in Raid Accepts U.S. Offer
The family of an 11-year-old boy accidentally killed during a SWAT team raid agreed to a $450,000 settlement with the federal government, the family’s lawyer said.
The family of Alberto Sepulveda is still suing the city and its police officers. Trial is set for July.
The family’s deal could make it difficult for the city to win its own lawsuit against the federal government over the boy’s death Sept. 13. A SWAT team raided the family’s home after reports of drug activity, and drug charges against the boy’s father remain in place.
