A Denver man visiting Lake Piru was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol Thursday after crashing his car into an oncoming vehicle and causing several injuries, authorities said.

Geraldo Villavicencio was driving north on Piru Canyon Road about 7:20 p.m. when his Acura Integra drifted into the southbound lane, said California Highway Patrol Officer Steven Reid. The Acura struck a Lincoln Town Car packed with nine people who had been at the recreation area celebrating Independence Day.

The driver of the Lincoln, Arutun Narinian, 23, of Granada Hills, and a passenger, Akop Narinian, 24, were airlifted to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia, where they were treated and released. The other seven passengers were treated for minor injuries at Santa Paula Memorial Hospital.
