Palm Beach County Tests New Vote Machines

From Times Wire Reports

Hoping to avoid a repeat of the 2000 election debacle, Palm Beach County held a mock election to test its touch-screen vote machines.

At shopping malls and supermarkets across the county, nearly 4,000 residents voted on such topics as favorite holiday, best president and favorite patriotic landmark. About 73% of voters said the words “under God” should stay in the Pledge of Allegiance.

A collection of congressmen pushed for a mock election to test the machines, but Saturday’s election amounted only to a demonstration, not a measure of their accuracy.
