My experience mirrors Jane Engle’s on checking multiple sources for the best hotel prices and availability (“Phone? Web? Agent? For Best Hotel Rates, Try All,” June 30).
Travelers who require flexibility should make sure they understand the fine print on cancellation policies. Some Web sites have longer cancellation notice requirements than hotels do when contacted directly, besides charging a cancellation fee.
Also note that some Web sites charge your credit card for your planned stay at the time you make the reservation.
