From Times Wire Reports

A Senate panel voted to lift a ban on Americans traveling to Cuba as the House prepared to follow suit, possibly setting up a veto showdown with President Bush.

The Senate Appropriations Committee voted unanimously to lift the 4-decade-old travel curbs on the Communist island as it cleared an $18.5-billion spending bill to fund the U.S. Treasury and general government operations next year.

The full House is due to take up its version of the funding bill later in the week and is expected to back lifting the ban.
