Priest Says Archdiocese Ruined His Reputation
A Roman Catholic priest who was accused of molesting two women has sued the Archdiocese of Miami for ruining his reputation by publicizing the allegations.
Father Jan Malicki was sued in 1998 for alleged molestations at St. David Catholic Church in Davie. The archdiocese suspended Malicki, but prosecutors never filed charges because they thought they couldn’t get a conviction.
Malicki said in his suit that the archdiocese authorized a church tribunal to review accusations against him in 1998, then held a news conference to announce Malicki was under investigation.
