From Times Wire Reports

A 50-year-old man facing a murder charge has become the sixth inmate this year to commit suicide at the Sacramento County Jail, authorities said Saturday.

A sheriff’s deputy conducting a cell check found the victim early Saturday. The inmate had made a noose from a bed sheet and secured it to the top bunk of his cell.

His name was not released, pending notification of his family.

The number of suicides at the jail typically has been lower than the national average. But Saturday’s suicide was the sixth at the jail in seven months.
