Costly Deadlines
Re “2,400 Legislative Workers Go Unpaid as Budget Battle Continues,” July 13: A simple solution to the problem of not meeting any legislative deadline would be to fine all members of both parties $100 for the first day missed, double that for the second day, double the second-day total for the third day and so on. When these fat cats figure out what the potential cost to their pocketbooks could be, I believe deadlines would be met very quickly. Would they buy in to that? I think not.
