After a 180-day trial period, the City Council voted in favor of an ordinance creating permanent off-leash hours for dogs at two city parks. The council could adopt the ordinance at its next meeting Monday.

Since January, dogs have been allowed to roam free at Arroyo Verde and Camino Real parks during certain hours.

From January through April, there were more than 6,000 dog visits to the parks, said Annie Dransfeldt, who is on the steering committee of the Ventura Dog Owners Group, which fought for the ordinanceand monitors each park during off-leash hours.
