A memorial fund has been established to help a 14-year-old Reseda boy send his parents’ remains back to their native Guatemala for burial, the office of the Guatemalan consul general in Los Angeles announced Wednesday.

Bryan Mendoza’s parents, Santos Mendoza, 41, and Floridlama Estrada, 38, were hit and killed Sunday night while crossing Riverside Drive near Ranchito Avenue in Sherman Oaks.

Bryan has since been under the care of his 23-year-old aunt, Glenda Gomez, who has said she wishes to adopt him.

Bryan faces possible deportation since both he and Gomez have expired tourist visas, officials at the Guatemalan counsel general’s office said.

Donations to the Bryan and Glenda Gomez Fund may be made at any Wells Fargo Bank branch.
