Solomona Should Get Maximum Sentence

Share

Re “Punishment for Killing Pumpkin Thief Is Tough Choice,” Dana Parsons, May 26:

I’m the father of a son nearing the age of Brandon Ketsdever, who was 17 at the time of his death. My hope is that a societal message is being sent so my son doesn’t suffer the same fate as Brandon.

Pete T. Solomona avoided conviction on a murder charge. He was armed with a .357 Magnum but declared that he felt threatened. Given that the .357 is a double-action handgun that’s not susceptible to accidental firing, what possible argument could there be for anything other than the maximum sentence for Solomona?
