SupplyMan Names Pittard as President

* Billy Pittard has been named president of SupplyMan Inc., a newly formed Los Angeles-based company specializing in online procurement for the entertainment industry. Pittard is the former president and chief executive of marketing firm Pittard Sullivan.

* Dan Perl, chief executive and founder of First Street Financial Inc., has been named president of Platinum Capital Group, a privately held mortgage banker in Irvine.

* Fred Muir, a 17-year veteran of The Times, is joining Fleishman-Hillard International Communications Inc. as a senior vice president of its Los Angeles public affairs practice.

During his tenure at The Times, Muir served in a variety of editing and reporting posts on the business, metro and state desks and was most recently entertainment editor of the newspaper’s Business section, overseeing coverage of the film, television and music industries. He also was a member of three Times’ Pulitzer Prize-winning project teams.

* Jim Smith has been named plant manager of Miller Brewing Co.’s 750-worker Irwindale brewery. He replaces Ed Beers, who is retiring from the position after 26 years with the company.

Last week, London-based South African Breweries agreed to buy Milwaukee-based Miller Brewing from Philip Morris Cos. for $3.6 billion in stock. The new company will be called SABMiller.

* Miles Sexton has been named to the new position of chief operating officer of Ventura-based Point Broadcasting, parent of Gold Coast Broadcasting and High Desert Broadcasting, licensees of 11 Southern California radio stations.

Sexton, a former radio general manager with McDonald Media Group, will also serve as president of the two Point Broadcasting subsidiaries.

* Hilary Meserole, executive vice president for marketing at Ticketmaster, has joined the corporate consulting division of Creative Artists Agency, a talent and literary agency in Beverly Hills.

* Cal N. Marsh has been named director of real estate for California Pizza Kitchen Inc., a restaurant operator based in Los Angeles. He was more recently national director of real estate for Z’Tejas Southwestern Grill restaurant chain.

California Pizza Kitchen also promoted Rudy Sugueti regional vice president of operations, responsible for West Coast, Washington and Hawaii locations.

* The Los Angeles office of Deloitte & Touche has added five new directors and a senior advisor to its tax practice. They are Ronald Landau, Gilbert Greene, Gordon Bennett, Steven Buck, Charles Cobb and Samuel Simpson.

* George Zhang has been appointed senior packaging engineer of Packaging Department Inc., a Los Angeles-based supply chain and transport packaging company.

* Todd Lounsbury has been promoted to district general manager for Ruth’s Chris Steak House, with oversight of restaurants in Beverly Hills, Irvine and Woodland Hills.

* Frances Lewi has been appointed branch manager of the Westlake Village regional office of Coldwell Banker, a residential real estate broker.

* John Covas has joined Tatum CIO Partners as a partner in Los Angeles. Tatum is a national firm of chief information officers.

* Sandra K. Deming has joined La Canada-based human resources firm JorgensenHR as a senior consultant. She is a former regional director for Howard & Edwards Worldwide, a Tarzana recruitment advertising firm.
