Berolina Bakery: How Swede It Is

Share

Anders Karlsson, the head baker at Berolina Bakery, is Swedish, so you’ll find several Scandinavian breads at his Glendale shop. Orange peel and anise-flavored Swedish limpa is a lightly sweetened rye bread. Cracked oats sprinkled over the top give it a rustic look. Ring-shaped Norwegian flat bread is thin and crisp, like a cracker. Scandinavians eat it with butter or cheese or use it as the base for open-face sandwiches.

Swedish limpa, $1.90; Bergman bread, $1.80; flat bread, $1.25 at Berolina bakery and pastry shop, 3421 Ocean View Blvd., Glendale. (818) 249-6506.
