All Trailer Parks Are Not Created Equal

Re “Paradise Found in a Trailer Park,” May 20:

The recent article on disappearing coastal trailer parks could leave the casual reader with the wrong impression about the future of the El Morro trailer park at Crystal Cove State Park. Lumping the former Treasure Island and other privately owned trailer parks together with El Morro implies that they share the same fate. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The good news is that El Moro Canyon will be returning to public use after Jan. 1, 2005, for anyone who can afford a tent and some firewood. The park was acquired by the state in 1978, so while other trailer parks are being replaced by hotels for the wealthier, this little slice of paradise has been set aside for all of us, forever.
