Former Police Chief Shot Dead in Belgrade

Assailants gunned down a high-ranking police officer and former Belgrade police chief.
Maj. Gen. Bosko Buha died shortly after being shot in a hotel parking lot at 2:45 a.m. Monday.
Buha’s killing is the latest in a series of slayings of police and state officials and senior underworld figures in Serbia, Yugoslavia’s dominant republic, since the mid-1990s. Most of the cases remain unsolved.
