Army Seeks to Reassure Citizens, Asks for Help

The Republic of Congo’s army urged people to go quietly about their business and report any suspicious people in the capital, Brazzaville, after fighting that killed about 100 people last week.
A state radio broadcast told thousands who fled homes near Brazzaville’s Maya Maya airport that their security was assured.
A rebel group called the Ninjas, led by a renegade pastor, Frederic Bitsangou, has launched attacks since President Denis Sassou-Nguesso won a March election from which his main rivals were excluded.
