Abbott, OraSure to Co-Market HIV Test

Abbott Laboratories and OraSure Technologies Inc. said they agreed to co-market a rapid HIV test that detects the presence of antibodies for the human immunodeficiency virus in as little as 20 minutes.
Abbott, a health products maker based in Abbott Park, Ill., will distribute the test to the laboratory markets at hospitals and physicians’ offices. OraSure will sell the test in public-health and criminal-justice markets.
Shares of Bethlehem, Pa.-based OraSure closed at $6.71, up 56 cents, on Nasdaq. Abbott’s shares rose $1.02 to $37.77 on the NYSE.
