Preliminary Hearing in Slaying of Lawyer Ends
A college student accused of killing Sacramento lawyer Larry McNabney with horse tranquilizers gave conflicting statements to authorities before she was considered a suspect, a San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department detective testified.
A sometimes-sobbing Sarah Dutra, 21, sat Thursday as Det. Deborah Scheffel described interviews authorities conducted with the Cal State Sacramento student before she was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder.
The preliminary hearing concluded Thursday.
Judge Bernard Garber could decide Monday whether Dutra should be tried for the killing.
