Judge Candidate Drops Bid Over Internet Porn

From Times Wire Reports

Deputy Dist. Atty. Charles Biely has resigned and withdrawn his bid for a Superior Court judgeship because of an investigation into his alleged use of Web site pornography on the job.

Biely, 57, had sought to unseat incumbent Judge Diana Hall, who has held her seat for 11 years. Hall, 51, was a county deputy district attorney for 13 years before becoming judge and for this election had the endorsement of all the judges in Santa Barbara County.

Biely resigned late Friday, explaining that he violated department policy by tapping adult Web sites on his office computer.
