Police Officers Picket Over Stalled Negotiations
Police officers unhappy over a lack of progress with contract talks picketed at City Hall before Tuesday night’s City Council meeting.
The city’s 59 officers have been working without a contract since their two-year agreement expired Sept. 30.
City Administrator Robert D’Amato said the city and police union have set a mediation meeting March 14. So far, D’Amato said, the contract dispute has not been disruptive.
“The officers have not indicated that they are going to strike.” he said. “They’ve gone about their business and continued to provide quality service to the residents.”
