First Woman President of College Plans to Retire
Margaret Gratton, Orange Coast College president for the last six years, said Monday she will retire when her contract expires July 15.
Gratton, 64, is the only woman president since the college opened in 1947. During her tenure, enrollment has increased by nearly 3,000 students to about 28,000.
Before becoming the seventh president, Gratton spent 22 years at Mount Hood Community College in Oregon.
