From Times Wire Reports

A cockpit fire forced a United Airlines jet bound for San Francisco to make an emergency landing at Texarkana Regional Airport in Arkansas on Tuesday.

None of the 106 people on board was injured.

There was no word on the cause of the fire, although Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Roland Herwig said there was a possibility it was caused by a window heater.

The 757 took off from Orlando, Fla., airline spokesman Joe Hopkins said. “The landing went very smoothly,” said Carri Jones, the Texarkana airport’s finance administrator.

Hopkins said the fire was extinguished before the plane landed.
