Hearn Should Go Home Today

Laker announcer Chick Hearn will be going home from the hospital today.

Dr. Herbert Huddleston of the Southern California Orthopedic Institute, who performed hip surgery Feb. 19 on Hearn at Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys, said, “There has not been the slightest problem or complication. His recovery could not have been better or quicker.”

Huddleston said Hearn walked 200 feet without a walker or cane Tuesday.

“He has been a model patient,” the surgeon said. “He has a strong constitution and a great attitude, and this has greatly speeded his recovery.”

Huddleston said he expected Hearn to be announcing Laker games again within a month.
