* Amgen Inc. won European Commission approval for its Kineret rheumatoid arthritis treatment. The drug was approved for use with methotrexate, Amgen said. Kineret was approved in the U.S. in November.

* Quiksilver Inc. said net income for the first quarter fell 16% to $3.1 million, or 13 cents a share, as it marked down prices because of a weak economy and fallout from the Sept. 11 attacks. Sales rose 20% to $145.8 million.
