Convict in Lockerbie Blast Starts Life Term

A former Libyan agent began serving a life sentence today in Scotland, after a special court in the Netherlands refused to overturn his conviction for the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103, which killed 270 people.
An appeals court ruled unanimously that Abdel Basset Ali Megrahi, 49, was responsible for the explosion that brought down the Boeing 747 over Lockerbie, Scotland.
He was convicted in January 2001.
