London Double-Decker Is Cops’ Stealth Vehicle
Scotland Yard has swapped its speedy squad cars for a cumbersome double-decker bus in its latest bid to tackle the British capital’s rising crime rate.
Police officers crammed a traditional red London bus to raid a north London bar. Before suspects could flee, 78 officers leaped off the bus and stormed the pub, arresting 10 people on drug charges.
“It’s all about thinking outside the box,” said Supt. Simon O’Brien, who was in charge of the raid.
The raid, code-named Formidable, was part of a five-week initiative targeting street robbery, burglary and drug dealing.
