Rebels Withdraw From Town Seized in Raid
From Times Wire Reports
Rwandan-backed rebels in eastern Congo have withdrawn from Moliro, a town they seized less than two weeks ago in a raid that threw peace talks into crisis, the United Nations said.
But rebel officials and police remain in Pweto, another town the U.N. Security Council told the rebels to vacate, a U.N. official said.
The confused situation in Pweto means the talks remain under threat, said Amos Ngongi, head of the U.N. mission to Congo.
