DNA Evidence Clears Convicted Rapist
TENNESSEE
After more than two decades behind bars, a man was cleared of the rape and robbery that sent him to prison, but an old federal firearms charge will keep him there a little longer.
A judge in Memphis overturned Clark McMillan’s conviction after tests showed McMillan’s DNA did not match that in semen left on the teenage victim’s clothes.
McMillan, 45, was convicted of forcing two teens from their car in 1979, raping the girl and robbing her boyfriend. The girl identified McMillan as the rapist, but he maintained his innocence.
