By the end of tonight’s 11-race card at Los Alamitos, only 10 of 90 2-year-olds will still be in the running for the $361,000 Kindergarten Futurity on May 18, the first leg of the Los Alamitos Bonanza. The track will award a $1-million bonus to any horse sweeping the Kindergarten, the Ed Burke Memorial Futurity on July 27 and the Los Alamitos Million on Dec. 13.

Trainer Jaime Gomez, who has won the Kindergarten the last two years for owner Dutch Masters III with Sassy Smith and Secret Card, will be a busy man tonight. He has entered 22 horses in the trials and it would be a major upset if he did not have multiple qualifiers. His top contenders include Coup Of Corona, Great Tip, Ponderosa Ruby, Strawfly Te, Flys R Streakin and Suzy Cartel. The entire card consists of trials; each is run at 300 yards.

The picks: 1. Female Friend. 2. Red Lipstick. 3. Morning Snow. 4. Ponderosa Ruby. 5. Doreme Fasolasi Win. 6. Throwin A Fit. 7. Flys R Streakin. 8. Night Lines. 9. A Royal Of Class. 10. Lonely Moon Sign. 11. Suzy Cartel.
