From Times Wire Reports

President Bush’s gubernatorial records are subject to the state’s open public records law even though they are housed at his father’s presidential library, state Atty. Gen. John Cornyn ruled.

Bush placed his records in his father’s George Bush Presidential Library at Texas A&M; University.

That library is administered by the National Archives and Records Administration and is not subject to the state Open Records Act.

In 1997, Bush, as Texas governor, signed a bill that said a governor may designate an alternate repository for his records instead of the state archives commission.
