Time for the Summer Switch

Share

Most winter vegetables are finished by now, and the garden can be completely changed to summer crops. It’s finally time to plant the main-crop tomatoes--the beefsteaks, big boys and other burger-sized slicers.

It’s also time to plant corn. Be sure to plant it in blocks of at least four rows so the wind can help pollinate the silks.

Other edibles to plant now include beet, carrot, chayote, cucumber, leaf lettuce, melon, New Zealand spinach, onion, pepper, pumpkin, radish, squash, sunflower, Swiss chard and watermelon.
