* Edward Hopper and Urban Realism (Santa Barbara Museum of Art, 1130 State St., Santa Barbara, [805] 963-4364). The show highlights early works by Hopper against an overview of the realist tradition from the early part of the 20th century to the apex of its popularity--the establishment of the American Scene movement in the ‘30s. Featuring about 50 paintings, the exhibit also includes the work of more than 30 artists who were working in New York and were originally associated with the influences of Robert Henri and the Ashcan School. Among works on view is Hopper’s “Queensborough Bridge” (1913), a detail of which is shown above. Ends Sept. 15. Other shows at the museum: “Colin Campbell Cooper: Impressions of New York,” ends July 7; “Desire and Devotion: Art From India, Tibet and Nepal in the John and Berthe Ford Collection,” ends June 2; “A Passionate Collaboration: Margrethe Mather and Edward Weston,” ends June 23.
