Officer Pleads Not Guilty to Sex-Assault Charges

A police officer pleaded not guilty Thursday to sexually assaulting three women while on duty earlier this year.

Joseph Evan Robinson, 26, a three-year member of the LAPD, remained in Los Angeles County Jail in lieu of $3-million bail. The charges against Robinson include kidnapping to commit a crime and rape by threatening arrest.

Rape victims--The two rape victims who were allegedly assaulted by LAPD Officer Joseph Evan Robinson are not “disabled,” as The Times reported in the California section Friday, based on documents supplied by the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office. Prosecutors said Friday that official court papers do not include the erroneous characterization.

Two of the victims were described in the complaint as having “mental disorders and developmental and physical disabilities.”
