‘24’s’ Freeway Fantasy

Knowing a healthy dose of “suspension of disbelief” is necessary to accept most forms of entertainment, I have overlooked many of the dubious plot devices and details of the Fox series “24” because I liked the show.

For example: A plane blew up in the first episode and was forgotten by everyone by the end of the second episode. Kim escaped a car wreck, a drug-bust gun battle, two (or is it three?) kidnappings and a stint in the jail cell from hell without so much as whiplash. Dennis Hopper’s accent ... enough said.

But when Jack made it from downtown L.A. to Saugus in 30 minutes at 6:30 p.m. on a Tuesday, I gave up!
